Microsoft is expanding its efforts to protect rural hospitals from cyber threats as part of its Cybersecurity for Rural Hospitals Program, an initiative launched last year to bolster the digital defenses of healthcare facilities serving 46 million Americans in rural areas.

According to a new white paper released by the company, more than 550 rural hospitals—nearly one-third of all U.S. rural hospitals—are now participating in the program. The initiative provides free cybersecurity assessments, training, discounted Microsoft security products, and AI-driven solutions aimed at improving hospital resiliency.
