Mercy has finalized the acquisition of the former Via Christi Hospital in Pittsburg, Kansas, marking the completion of a transition that began months ago.

The facility has officially been renamed Mercy Hospital Pittsburg, becoming the third Mercy hospital in Kansas, joining Mercy Hospital Columbus and Mercy Specialty Hospital – Southeast Kansas, which is located in Galena.

Jeremy Drinkwitz, president of Mercy Joplin communities, welcomed the new staff members to the organization, noting the importance of continuing the hospital’s legacy of healthcare in the Pittsburg area. “We couldn’t be more excited to officially call them co-workers at Mercy Hospital Pittsburg,” Drinkwitz said. “We intend to hit the ground running and get started on the work of not only continuing but expanding...
