On November 16, 2023, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (“CMS”) published proposed changes to the Medicare provider enrollment requirements in the Calendar Year 2024 Physician Fee Schedule final rule (“Final Rule”). Ultimately, CMS anticipates that these changes will bring clarity and help strengthen the enrollment process, in addition to protecting Medicare beneficiaries and the Medicare Trust Funds from fraudulent behavior by providers and suppliers.
