New prices for enrollees will start in 2027

Medicare beneficiaries will save as much as 85% off the list price when negotiated prices for 15 blockbuster drugs go into effect in 2027, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) said Tuesday.

In 2024, Medicare would have saved $8.5 billion in net covered prescription drug costs — about 36% less net spending — if the negotiated prices had been in effect, CMS said in a fact sheet. Drugs on the list include household names such as semaglutide (Ozempic, Rybelsus, Wegovy), palbociclib (Ibrance), and linaclotide (Linzess).
