On February 7, 2018, the National Academy for State Health Policy (NASHP) released new plan selection data showing that enrollment in marketplace coverage remained largely stable from 2017 to 2018. This appears to be the first estimate of nationwide data on plan selection—i.e., data that reflects plan selections made in both the federal marketplace and all state-based marketplaces—for the 2018 open enrollment period.

Overall, NASHP estimates that nearly 11.8 million consumers selected a plan for 2018. This is only about 3.7 percent less than the estimated 12.2 million consumers that selected a plan in 2017.
