MCMURRAY, Penn.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–In the latest Healthcare Business Strategy report, Mark Farrah Associates (MFA), www.markfarrah.com assessed administrative fees revenues from self-insured accounts for Blue Cross and Blue Shield (BCBS) plans and their affiliates. Based on statutory filings from the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC), BCBS entities reported receiving $18.7 billion in reimbursements in 2021 from uninsured, also referred to as Administrative Services Only (ASO), plans, an 18% hike from the $15.8 billion reported in 2017. MFA’s Blues analysis found:
