On Oct. 1, 2023, I published a commentary in the “Counterpoint” section of the Star Tribune, Minnesota’s largest media outlet. My commentary was in response to a Star Tribune editorial from Sept. 24 titled “Health Task Force Should Tackle a Key Question: The Future of U-Fairview Partnership.”

The editorial discussed the composition and orientation of Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz’s newly created healthcare task force. The task force’s mandate is to study the University of Minnesota’s education and training programs for healthcare professionals and then make structural and funding recommendations to improve them. Intermingled within this review is whether the State should fund a multibillion-dollar facility revitalization of the University’s clinical enterprise.
