The Leapfrog Group on Monday released its 2025 “Top Hospitals” list, recognizing 156 hospitals — including 111 Advisory Board members — for excellence in patient safety and quality of care.
Methodology
For the list, Leapfrog sorted hospitals into four categories and compared them to their peers. The four categories were:
- Children’s hospitals
- General hospitals
- Rural hospitals
- Teaching hospitals
To be eligible for recognition, all hospitals were required to:
- Meet Leapfrog’s standard for computerized physician order entry
- Meet Leapfrog’s standard for ICU physician staffing
- Meet Leapfrog’s standard for “never events”
- Meet or make progress toward meeting Leapfrog’s standard for billing ethics
- Meet or make progress toward meeting Leapfrog’s standard for informed consent
