On May 21, 2024, an insurance company and agent filed a lawsuit in Texas seeking to block the Biden Administration from enforcing provisions of a recent regulation that imposed new notice requirements for fixed indemnity policies. The case has been assigned to J. Campbell Barker, a Trump appointee.

In the past few months, the Biden Administration has moved to finalize multiple regulations implementing various provisions of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) to advance consumer protections, protect patients from discrimination, and make health coverage more accessible and affordable (including for DACA recipients).
