BioInnovate alumni Brendan Staunton and Dr Liz McGloughlin discuss their experience of the health innovation programme and give advice to potential participants.

BioInnovate, the health innovation programme based at the University of Galway, will be kicking off again later this year, with applications for the 2026/7 programme set to close on 4 February.

To date, the programme – which was first established in 2011 – has produced 35 health-tech start-ups.

One company that emerged from the 10-month programme is Amara Therapeutics – a Galway-based medtech that focuses on digital therapies for women living with incontinence.
