When Congress voted to torpedo the widely hated Sustainable Growth Rate formula (SGR) in 2015, it created an 11-member committee to give physicians a stronger voice in determining how Medicare pays them.

The Physician-focused Payment Model Technical Advisory Committee (PTAC), a group of physician and non-physician policy experts, solicits and evaluates new physician-focused payment models.
