On this Doctors’ Day, I’m taking a brief break from the usual weekly deep dive.

Wait…you didn’t know today is Doctors’ Day?

Me either.

Turns out this observance (officially National Doctors’ Day) dates back to 1933 and takes place every year on March 30th. The goal is to “honor the dedication, skill, and unwavering commitment of physicians in providing high-quality health care to individuals and communities worldwide.”

So today, my colleagues, take a break from clicking through the EMR (and clicking… and clicking…), and enjoy your free hospital cafeteria meal—washed down with a nice frosty glass of Medicare cuts.

Enjoy it while it lasts. Chances are it’ll soon be renamed National Artificial Intelligence Day.
