In recent days, the U.S. has weathered catastrophic storms.

Residents of Florida are still reeling from Hurricane Milton, which made landfall last Wednesday as a Category 3 storm. Causing at least 24 deaths and prompting large-scale evacuations, the storm left the state with widespread devastation.

Hurricane Milton arrived shortly after Hurricane Helene, which made landfall in Florida as a Category 4 storm in late September and wreaked havoc in the Southeastern states. More than 240 deaths have been recorded, and almost 100 people in North Carolina have yet to be accounted for. Buncombe County Emergency Services Assistant Director Ryan Cole told the Asheville Citizen-Times that the storm amounted to “biblical devastation” and “biblical flooding.”
