Humana has targeted several new markets to grow its senior-focused primary care network this year, the insurer said Tuesday.

Humana has 233 “owned, joint venture and alliance clinics” including its Conviva brand centers in Florida and Texas and its Partners in Primary Care Clinics elsewhere. These centers currently serve 8% of Humana’s individual Medicare Advantage enrollees in 30 markets.

But the success of a value-based care approach has convinced Humana to target several new markets including Charleston, S.C, Houston and Memphis, Tenn., for expansion, the health insurance giant said Tuesday during the company’s annual investor day presentation in New York.
