Humana profits eclipsed $700 million in the second quarter on strong Medicare Advantage enrollment while navigating the uncertain Covid-19 pandemic.

The health insurer Wednesday reported net income of $738 million in the second quarter of this year. That number was down over last year’s second quarter when Humana’s net income eclipsed $1.7 billion when the health insurer, like others, saw huge profits when Americans deferred care and skipped doctor’s visits at the beginning of the pandemic.

Humana, which is a big provider of health insurance coverage to seniors via Medicare Advantage, saw revenues rise more than 7% to $20.6 billion in the quarter compared to a year ago.
