A review of data regarding the Affordable Care Act underscored how important the law has been for women’s health and access to care.

The Affordable Care Act had a positive impact on women’s health, primarily by expanding patient access to care and health payer coverage, but there is still a long road ahead to total equity, according to a literature review published in the latest issue of Health Affairs.

In this issue, Health Affairs aggregated leading research expounding on the impacts the Affordable Care Act has had in the medical industry since in its 2010 rollout. For women, that rollout has been a good thing, eliminating some of the barriers to wellness previously seen.
