Both consumers and providers have many frustrations with the prescription medication process—the most common are price confusion and potential sticker shock at the pharmacy counter, drug shortages and prescriptions sent to pharmacies that can’t fill them, and provider frustration with an inefficient overall prescribing process. A national survey found that 33 percent of Americans don’t fill their prescriptions, and the top reason (30 percent) is cost.

ePrescribing, which allows providers to send electronic prescriptions directly to a pharmacy, has been proven to improve patient safety, reduce prescribing errors, improve medication adherence, and increase operational efficiency.
