There’s been a significant increase in the number of older Americans who abuse alcohol and pharmaceuticals. It has become a growing and under-managed risk for all segments of senior care, and one that providers in senior living communities and care facilities must start addressing now.

When abuse issues among a senior living community’s residents go undetected and unaddressed, the operator can be subject to litigation and liable for failing to meet federal standard-of care requirements.
