The early success Humana and Walgreens Boots Alliance are seeing in “senior-focused primary care clinics” could be behind speculation a closer deal between the insurer and drugstore chain is forthcoming.

The Wall Street Journal said Tuesday Humana and Walgreens are having “preliminary discussions to take equity stakes in each other.” Neither Humana nor Walgreens would comment about the report or whether their relationship was expanding.
