CHICAGO — Healthcare interoperability and health data exchange have entered a new phase at HIMSS15, one that is characterized by action and use cases in the here and now rather than in a more distant future.

One such example is the progress being made by Carequality, the initiative launched in 2014 by the non-profit organization Healtheway which also oversee the nationwide health information network, the eHealth Exchange.

Carequality is now entering a pilot phase to connect approximately 2,000 hospitals, 40,000 clinics, and 200,000 physicians in the United States using its own national framework for inter-network interoperability.
