Evidence suggests EHR data, tools, and clinical decision support systems can be leveraged to improve chronic disease management.

Effective EHR use can improve care coordination, streamline daily clinical processes, and save hospitals money. However, EHR systems continue to receive blame for contributing to rising rates of physician burnout, a deteriorating patient-provider relationship, and generally inconveniencing providers.
