Only a third of imaging leaders and radiologists currently use artificial intelligence, while others say cost and lack of strategic direction stymie AI implementation.

A Definitive Healthcare survey released last week uncovered that only one-third of imaging leaders and radiologists from US-based hospitals and imaging centers currently utilize artificial intelligence or machine learning to aid or assist in patient care imaging or business operations at their organizations. Others cited cost and other issues as AI implementation barriers.

The survey found that imaging centers are 2.8 percent more likely to use AI technology compared to hospitals due to the fact they are based in diagnostic imaging services. But the survey revealed significant room for growth with AI implementation.
