Top health officials bring a different approach to government communications

Federal health officials have been sharing videos on social media, ranging from wacky to downright dangerous, which experts say contribute to a broader shift in social media strategy.

Many of the videos are posted by Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s official health secretary accounts and feature other top officials.

In one, Kennedy and CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz, MD, MBA, go on a hike in Colorado and tout the health benefits of movement and getting outside. Both are dressed casually and Kennedy is visibly sweating as they walk through the park and scramble up and down a boulder.

They quip, “Sunlight is medicine,” “Move a muscle, change a thought,” and make claims...
