The United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of Inspector General (HHS OIG) recently released its Semiannual Report to Congress, covering April 1, 2024, through September 30, 2024. During the relevant time period, HHS OIG identified $4.36 billion in expected recoveries and receivables. Additionally, the agency issued 53 audits and 22 evaluations to HHS in which systemic weaknesses and opportunities for improvement were identified. During the same period, HHS OIG issued 239 new recommendations to bolster sustainable program improvements and safeguard taxpayer funds.
