With Inauguration Day fast approaching, the Trump administration continues to try to leave a lasting mark on the federal government—from issuing new rules at a record pace to approving dramatic Medicaid waivers to altering the process to revoke or amend state waivers. And more changes may be coming. The final notice of benefit and payment parameters for 2022 is awaiting approval by the Office of Management and Budget (OMB); that rule landed at OMB a mere eight days after public comments were due. It remains to be seen whether the 2022 payment rule can be released and published in the Federal Register before Inauguration Day, but federal officials will presumably try to do so.
