The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) recently issued the Dietary Guidelines for Americans (DGA), 2025-2030. The Dietary Guidelines for Americans set the foundation for federal nutrition programs such as national food assistance and school meal programs. While the new dietary guidelines include some longstanding recommendations from previous editions, such as a focus on calorie intake, consumption of fruits and vegetables, and nutrient density, the new guidelines also include many recommendations that represent a significant shift in federal nutrition policy.
