At the recent HIMSS Healthcare Cybersecurity Forum, representatives from three agencies and offices within the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) discussed their efforts to prioritize healthcare cybersecurity. The Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response (ASPR), the Office for Civil Rights (OCR), and the 405(d) Program outlined their plans for the next 12 to 24 months.

ASPR, as the healthcare sector’s designated Sector Risk Management Agency (SRMA), is taking steps to expand its cyber capabilities. The agency is building a cyber division and investing in technology to track, analyze, and report cyber incidents. These initiatives aim to enhance ASPR’s partnership with public and private sector partners and improve the healthcare sector’s cybersecurity posture.
