Mental health and the “burnout crisis” affecting healthcare workers began well before the pandemic and still were prevalent in 2022, according to a new report from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Healthcare workers — including long-term care workers, nurses, physicians, emergency medical services clinicians, mental health workers, and those not engaged in direct patient care such as those in other support roles and public health workers — were more likely to report more days of poor mental health and were more likely to report burnout in 2022 than in 2018, according to data from the General Social Survey Quality of Worklife Module shared Tuesday.
