Q3 continued a trend of smaller hospitals and health systems partnering with larger systems to expand care access in rural communities.

Mergers and acquisitions among hospitals and health systems recovered in Q3 compared with the first half of 2025, according to a new report from Kaufman Hall with 15 announced transactions. The company anticipates an uptick in M&A activity heading into Q4.
