Beemac Trucking offers health insurance to its company drivers and office workers. While that’s a benefit that might help retain the company’s administrative employees, it might not actually be helping the Ambridge-based business recruit truckers.

The plan comes with options. Young employees might decide to pay less for the high-deductible plan, explained Christina Jones in human resources, while older truckers and administrative employees with families go for the higher-premium PPO plans.

Company drivers typically don’t ask much when Ms. Jones explains these health care options to them. “I don’t really get complaints, but I get an, ‘Oh, cool,’” she said. “They get some things that are not traditional for every company with drivers.”
