Big businesses that stand to benefit from advancements in artificial intelligence (AI) in healthcare are resisting proposed federal rules aimed at improving oversight and fairness of AI tools used in patient care decision-making.

Among those opposing the regulations are industry giants Google and Amazon, as well as major healthcare providers, insurers, and medical software vendors. The focus of their opposition lies in tighter restrictions on the use of AI by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology.
