With more than 90,000 people participating in Geisinger’s MyCode initiative, 3 percent have genetic variants that can be used to forecast health problems, and the number is expected to rise.

Geisinger Health System CEO David Feinberg, MD, and other top executives said Geisinger’s gene sequencing program is helping to better project adverse health issues in the short-term and the hospital is expecting even better results to come.

Geisinger’s DNA sequencing project has the potential to identify virtually everyone in its patient population to pinpoint increased risk for early onset, inherited cancer and cardiac events.
