The report showed PCORI and HHS are fulfilling their duties to conduct and disseminate patient-centered outcomes research and data.

The Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) and Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI) are effectively conducting comparative effectiveness research as mandated under the Affordable Care Act, according to the Government Accountability Office (GAO).

The GAO report, which the Office published as part of ACA stipulations, concluded that PCORI and HHS have both effectively fulfilled their duties in funding comparative effectiveness research (CER). PCORI has largely been responsible for funding research initiatives, while HHS has offered funding for disseminating research results and implementing findings into medical practice.
