More than 122 million Americans will be traveling during this month’s 13-day holiday period, nearly 3 million more than last year, according to the Automobile Association of America. This season follows the trend of record-high increases, seen each year except for 2020. While the majority of these travelers will be in cars (estimated 109 million), that leaves over 13 million individuals traveling in crowded trains, buses and airplanes. This mass movement comes, as is the case in most years, at a time when we are seeing a rise in cases of seasonal flu, caused by the influenza virus.
