Did you know that healthcare workers are four times more likely to experience workplace violence than workers in any other industry? And sometimes, the outcomes can even be fatal.

In an incident that took place just last month at VCU Medical Center North Hospital, a fight broke out between two hospital employees, ending with one of them fatally shooting the other.

Many such occurrences in healthcare go unreported, creating a culture of silence that puts the workforce at risk. Security protocols are insufficient to address the underlying issues of staff empathy for mental health patients and fear of job loss or schedule changes.
