The approach of HIMSS15 means that CommonWell Health Alliance, the consortium founded by health IT developers, is preparing to celebrate another year of existence. The timing may be only a coincidence, but the organization has finally named its Founding Executive Director in the figure of Jitin Asnaani.

The new head of CommonWell will now build on his experience includes a leadership role at athenahealth and two years working for the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology on it’s the Standards & Interoperability (S&I) Framework.

The appointment also comes in the wake of recent comments during Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions hearing on EHR adoption and interoperability, which included criticism of what the consortium has...
