There’s never a dull moment when it comes to implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA). In addition to last week’s release of the highly anticipated final 2020 notice of benefit and payment parameters, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released its final letter to issuers in the federal marketplace and extended the deadline for comments on a proposed interoperability rule. Separately, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) released its new health insurance model and provided new estimates of coverage rates for 2015 through 2018, suggesting that the uninsured rate has been on the rise since 2016. This post covers these three new developments.
