What You Should Know:

– EHR leader Epic announced the expansion of its Application Program Interfaces (APIs) for healthcare app developers.

– These APIs, available at no cost, will enable developers to access a more comprehensive view of the patient, supporting the latest standards in data exchange.

Enhanced Interoperability for Personalized Care

The expanded APIs are designed to support version 3 of the United States Core Data for Interoperability (USCDI v3). This allows healthcare apps to receive critical data elements, including tribal affiliation, disability status, caregiver relationships, and preferred language. Additionally, the APIs facilitate the exchange of interventions related to Social Drivers of Health (SDOH), such as referrals to homeless shelters.
