Americans with PTSD probably won’t be able to legally get the psychedelic drug MDMA — better known as ecstasy — to treat their condition after a Food and Drug Administration advisory panel said Tuesday it wasn’t effective.
But it looks like they may if they travel to the Netherlands. An advisory panel there has recommended the Dutch government allow the treatment, our Mari Eccles reports.
The backstory: Last year, the Dutch established a state commission of experts from psychiatry, medicine, criminology, prevention and law to investigate the risks and benefits of MDMA, including its potential medical use.
