Error-riddled directory may mislead seniors as they choose health plans, legislators say

Democratic lawmakers are blasting CMS Administrator Mehmet Oz, MD, for a shoddy rollout of a national healthcare provider directory ahead of this year’s open enrollment season.

In a letter to Oz, two Senators — Jeff Merkley (D-Ore.) and Ron Wyden (D-Ore.) — said the launch of the Medicare Advantage provider directory was “rushed” and “riddled with erroneous, conflicting, and duplicative information.”

Two House members — Richard Neal (D-Mass.) and Frank Pallone (D-N.J.) — sent a separate letter to Oz and HHS Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. stating the directory is “deeply flawed and inaccurate.”
