Technology, communications and the workforce have evolved a lot over the past few decades. When I started my career, many CISOs were focused on securing their campuses and data centers with physical firewalls to inspect incoming and outgoing traffic. As applications became virtualized, software firewalls were offered, and as cloud adoption grew, we saw the growth of cloud-based firewalls.
