When Michael Genord, MD, received a call offering him the role of chief medical officer at a health plan, his first question was: “Why would I do that?”

Dr. Genord was a practicing OB-GYN for 20 years before working in the payer industry. He has been the CEO of HAP, a Michigan health plan owned by Henry Ford Health, since 2020.
