In 2024, a study published in JAMA Network revealed that reducing children’s leisure screen time to just three hours per week can significantly improve their mental health and behavior. This finding underscores a pressing concern: our children are spending more time on screens than ever before, and it’s taking a toll on their well-being.
As a digital forensics expert I have examined hundreds of phones and computers in criminal and civil cases. I’ve observed firsthand how technology can both empower and entangle us. Excessive screen time is an issue for almost all of us, but it is an especially concerning issue for the developing minds of children, potentially adversely affecting their cognitive development, social skills and mental health.
