Healthcare organizations are making data-driven insights part of their strategic plans, but few are actively using analytics for population health.

Healthcare organizations are trying to make the most of their data assets by applying analytics insights to various areas of clinical care, but relatively few providers have mastered the challenges of data-driven population health management, according to a new survey by HIMSS Analytics.

Ninety percent of respondents to the poll said that they are using analytics in clinical areas, but just one in five (21 percent) are specifically using analytics tools to manage population health at scale. A mere 10 percent are using data analytics to improve chronic care management.
