There are some companies where the chief executive officer (CEO) is synonymous with the company itself. Elon Musk (Tesla) and Steve Jobs (Apple) immediately come to mind, although they are founders and chief executives. If you think more historically, the founder of the Ford Motor Company (Henry Ford) famously put his stamp on the industrialization of manufacturing cars, bringing affordable access to automobiles everywhere. But how many of us could name any of the subsequent CEOs that came after Henry Ford or what they achieved?
