The two healthcare organizations will promote the DirectTrust health data exchange framework as the common interface for data exchange across the country.

The College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and DirectTrust announced today a collaboration to promote the deployment of the DirectTrust framework and health information exchange as the common interface for nationwide health data exchange.

The two organizations will also work to ensure secure, interoperable health data exchange using the Direct standard is available at every location in the healthcare system where patient data exists or is needed. The collaboration will involve making Direct exchange available in hospitals, medical practices, pharmacies, labs, long-term care facilities, payers, insurers, health departments, and apps.
