The Children’s Hospital Association’s Child Health Patient Safety Organization has developed a new “Safety Watch” initiative to help pediatric clinicians identify healthcare risks and prevent harm.

Each year, millions of children experience preventable harm events in hospitals and other healthcare settings. Safety Watch will alert pediatric providers of immediate safety threats, emerging concerns and ongoing risks based on insights from nearly 60 member children’s hospitals and the latest research.

A March 6th alert highlighted three emerging safety risks:

  • Unrecognized clinical deterioration
  • Pressure injuries
  • Discharge medication errors
