Abstract

Communities and health organizations are testing novel ways to fund costly initiatives to advance health equity.

Donna Dozier hops into the back of a boxy white delivery truck, filling a refrigerator with plastic-wrapped trays of cold food, cartons of milk, and a brown paper bag labeled with a green “R” for “renal disease.” In smaller containers, she stacks trays of hot food, some regular meals and some “medically tailored” for clients with a range of chronic conditions and medical needs. A narrow freezer is stacked with boxes, each filled with a week’s worth of frozen meals.
