Many child and adolescent psychiatrists today face 1 of 2 challenges: (1) most of your time is spent on your sickest patients in a level of care that does not offer the support you and they need, or (2) you serve patients at a level of care that is so restrictive, expensive, or removed from typical community life that one of your most therapeutic interventions is discharge.
