Bright Health will use proceeds from its IPO to fund the expansion, which will bring its total number of markets to 141 from 99. The company will also expand its product portfolio in states where it already operates.

Insurance startup Bright Health has big plans for 2022.

On Tuesday, the Minneapolis-based company announced plans to expand its operations to 42 new markets next year across Texas, Georgia, Utah and Virginia. This will boost its total number of markets to 141 from 99.

The planned expansion will also grow Bright Health’s overall footprint to 17 states, up from 14, bringing it close to rival Oscar Health’s current operations spanning 19 states. But Oscar is planning to expand to three new states...
